Summer is here. Is the words I'm bored already coming out of their mouths? With this economy, many families are looking to do activities that are FREE or inexpensive while doing a staycation or even when they are traveling to their vacation. Even the families that are traveling for vacation are taking time this year to look at activities that are available in that location that would be FREE or cheap to do. Here is a few suggestions on what your family can do this summer that hopefully will not put a big dent in the budget.

Free Events

  1. Home Depot Kids Workshops. Home Depot offers how to clinics for kids the first Saturday of each month. The kids get to create a great project and get a free Home Depot orange apron. Click here for more details.

  2. Lowes Build and Grow workshops. Click here to see if your Lowes is providing this in your area. Right now in our area, our Lowes is doing Pirate Ships and Treasure Chest. What kid would not love to build their own Pirate Ship.

  3. Bass Pro Shops Family Fun: Through July 5th, on Saturday and Sundays from Noon til 6 p.m. you and your children can enjoy activities such as the shooting range, s'morse cookout, the laser gallery and so much more.   4. Apple camps: Does your kid love computers? Apple is doing summer workshops for kids ages 8-12. Apple has several workshops, Movie workshop, music workshop, photo workshop and presentation workshop. Click here to find out more and register.

  5. Kid's bowling: Kids bowl for free is a program that allows kids to bowl two games a day at selected bowling alleys for free. Click here to see the nearest center.

  6. Play Golf America free golf for women: Across America through the month of June women can get instruction and the opportunity to play golf. I pulled my city up and I have 4 different opportunities to play golf with instruction during the month of June for Free. Check and see what your area is doing , click here.   7. Fee Free Weekends at our National Parks: Our national parks are giving a Fee Free Weekend once each month. Click here for more information.
